Paris to Brussels

Posted by jack On July - 18 - 2010

As wonderful as my experience in Paris was I quickly became tired of being in a city. So a week after I had arrived I packed my things and took to the road. It felt so nice to be out in the countryside again. I took my time riding across the giant uninhabited expanses of agricultural land, enjoying the peaceful solitude and Read the rest of this entry »

Paris

Posted by jack On July - 12 - 2010

It’s funny how 2 days can just turn into a week. I mean I was sure I would only go here and maybe a bit there then call it good and head for Belgium monday morning. But I think that would just be uncharacteristic of me to just stick to some drab schedule… Read the rest of this entry »

Experiencing the French Countryside by Bike

Posted by jack On July - 2 - 2010

Because of the pathetic lack of photos contained in my last post, which was late, is not cool for a photo blog, I have decided to post one of my collections of things I have photographed in France. Check back on this one from time to time as I go back through my massive archive and add more photos when I get a chance. Read the rest of this entry »

On the Road Again

Flayat to Limoges

All my material possessions neatly and deliberately packed away I said my goodbyes to Eric and rounded the corner to finish the another beautiful chapter of my life.

The familiar road rushing up to meet my wheels as I wounded down the snake like back roads through valleys and quiet french villages felt like an old friend I hadn’t seen for a long yesterday. The wind blowing through my hair and new sights that steadily glided past reminded me Read the rest of this entry »

My kind of Mad

During a quiet, muggy day weeding in the green house at Les Jardins des Mondoux a curious looking man appeared at the end of the tunnel. He sat upon a sharp looking road bike. His slightly disheveled appearance accented by long curly hair and a five-o-clock shadow seemed a bit unbecoming of one in the saddle of such a bike. The bike was a Read the rest of this entry »

Les Jardins des Mondoux

Posted by jack On May - 27 - 2010

Les Jardin des Mondoux is an organic vegetable and egg farm on the edge of a quiet town called Les Mondoux set in the historic Limosin region of France. During my free time I was able to check out the local castles as I was right next to the Route of Richard the Lion Heart.

The farm consists of 2,000 square meters of Read the rest of this entry »

Mars to Les Mondoux

Posted by jack On April - 11 - 2010

The journey from Mars Farm to my next destination took all of two days in the saddle. Having no map or schedule I took my time and enjoyed the beautiful countryside. I set a leisurely pace across two lane country roads winding through Read the rest of this entry »

Mars Farm

“No Agriculture Without Trees”

Was my favorite saying from Beny, the owner of Mars Farm. Beny had spent his younger years traveling about the world, sometimes by bicycle, to learn about agriculture to own his own farm. Coincidental as I had not really talked much with this guy prior to coming to his farm. Read the rest of this entry »

Francing it up

I got interviewed by the organization I rode across America with last summer! These guys are doing good things. Check out their site at: www.bike-america.org

Not what I Expected

The next contact I was headed for turned out to be spice dealers. Not the farmers as my friend had described to me. Never the less they turned out to be great hosts for the two weeks that I stayed with them. They had horses, ferocious geese that wanted to spill my blood across the rocky soil, chickens, and Read the rest of this entry »

Lalla Takerkouste to Tangier

Riding from Tangier to Lalla Takerkouste, all 700km of it, was a great experience in a lot of ways. However my monthly tolerance for near death experiences was exceeded on a daily basis. So for the journey back I decided to take the train. Read the rest of this entry »
