My name is Jack. I’m a Seattlite, born and raised. I’ve lived in the Seattle area my entire life, and approaching my 24th birthday I decided to move… to a bicycle.
I’m riding that bicycle around the world in an effort to expand my understanding of the world and my place within it. While in route I am pursuing my interests and passion for sustainable living by learning how people in other countries do so.
I am working on organic farmsteads and sustainable establishments in various countries to observe and document their methods, techniques, and ideologies. I am paying special attention to cultural influences and traditions that are sustainable.
I left my home on May 18th 2009 traveling eastward, and my wheels are still rolling. I have no plans for future destinations or return. I take things day by day and go where ever my journey takes me.

Jack,
i finally checked your website. It’s amazing! It was great to meet you. I admire your decision. It’s the best thing to do in order to find yourself. Unfortunately , not everyone can be so decisive as you are. Good job, Jack!
My best regards,
Elena

Hi Jack, there are lots of people following the Fukuoka methods here in India. We have our own methods of sustainable agricultural which was followed a long long time ago. Alas, we came under ‘modern’ influences and goaded by the corporate world our government is also promoting chemical farming.
btw, I think you should read a book ‘collapse’ by Jared Diamond. It talks about how and why many ancient societies collapsed and is a pointer to our future on this planet.
